SilverRail integrates with Google on rail search

Rail technology software as a service company SilverRail is integrating with Google to offer rail searches and bookings for users of the search giant.

As part of a broader drive to embed more sustainable travel options into its platform, Google is launching United Kingdom rail directly into its search engine, while directing users to book tickets via SilverRail’s retailing platform.

In announcing the deal, SilverRail founder and CEO Aaron Gowell emphasized the benefits of sustainable travel at a time when companies are mandating employees use rail to help hit net zero targets and the combination of high-speed rail with increased competition has made trains faster and cheaper across Europe.

“We are incredibly proud to announce our work with Google – helping them to help their billions of users to make greener travel decisions, Gowell said. “Our deep experience in providing both journey planning and booking engines to organizations such as National Rail Enquiries, LNER and Transport for Wales will be useful as we help make rail easy for U.K. travelers searching online.”
