Travel metasearch players have reinvented themselves over the years. Some have gone down the direct route while others have found ways to add value and deepen relationships with partners by providing insights and other services.
Skyscanner is no exception and in recent months the flight metasearch platform has been investing in artificial intelligence and exploring ways to inspire travelers and provide them with information to make a decision.
At WiT Singapore last month, Skyscanner CEO John Mangelaars shared news of the company’s expansion in India as well as how it fits into the wider Trip.com Group family.
He discussed Skyscanner’s investment in artificial intelligence, challenges with the technology and whether there are any signs of it going beyond the hype and beginning to mature.
Mangelaars also touched on new product lines for the company such as hotels and car rental and, alongside the integration of weather, events and price data, how they help it evolve as a metasearch player.
