EDreams sees profitability bump from long-time subscribers

EDreams Odigeo is growing – thanks to its Prime subscription model, which launched in 2017.

Tuesday’s news comes as the travel subscription company and e-commerce firm, which is parent to Liligo, Travellink, GO Voyages, Opodo and, of course, eDreams, reported its first quarter earnings for the financial year 2025, which began April 1. EDreams noted strong growth thanks to Prime, which it claimed has “cemented its position” as the “world’s largest travel subscription service.”

Dana Dunne, CEO of eDreams Odigeo, called the company’s first quarter “standout,” pointing to not only profitability and a rising subscription base but also improved margins.

Profitability grew 23% year over year, amounting to €36 million during the first quarter of FY25. Prime’s membership has surged by 32%, now sitting at 6.2 million members. And revenue grew by 4% to €173.5 million, with revenue stemming from Prime members growing by 22% – now representing 67% share of total revenue.

That maturing membership base has been key to bolstering profitability, the company said.

“This performance underscores our position as a stronger, more profitable and increasingly predictable subscription business,” said Dunne. “Prime now reaches millions of households, but what excites us even more is the vast potential that lies ahead, given the huge addressable market we have yet to tap into.”

The company said its long-held need to acquire new customers is waning as current subscribers turn to Prime for their travel needs. EDreams said it is well positioned to reach its goals for 2025 – including meeting a target of 7.25 million subscribers and a generation of cash EBITDA of €180 million or more.

“Back in 2021, when we first defined our vision, our goal wasn’t just business growth – we aimed to lead by innovation as the world’s first and largest travel subscription platform. It was a bold and novel strategy, and it has proven to be very successful,” said Dunne.

He added that eDreams’ growth potential beyond 2025 is hearty. “Our competitive advantage, unique customer proposition and leading technology mean we are fully prepared to capitalize on the vast opportunities that lie ahead,” said Dunne.

EDreams cited its membership program as a “key driver” of the company’s success during full-year earnings reported in 2023 and also noted its efficacy for driving success in 2021.
